Investigating color and form is core to my artistic practice. The democratic experience of color is fundamental, and the fact that color shifts in meaning from person to person resonates with me as an abstract painter. Color sensation offers each viewer a physical and psychological encounter that is enhanced by personal history, culture, mood, and memory. Josef Albers's notion that color is experiential and color relationships are in constant flux influences my work. Color is slippery. It morphs, vibrates, and dissolves. I think of color as a metaphor for the instability of the world around us. There is a commitment to abstract image building in my work that takes form through drawing, painting, and printmaking.
