Stripped, is a play on the word “striped,” a land pattern found in strip mines, and the striped geometry of the composition. It is a response to the devastating effects of mining on water resources. The warm stripes of the mine image contrast sharply against the cool blue stripes of water, while a black line plunges through the layers bearing down on contrasting complements in this abstracted landscape.
